Why one should drink alkaline water
You may have heard some of the various health claims about alkaline water. The “alkaline” in alkaline water refers to its pH level. The pH level is a number that measures how acidic or alkaline a substance is on a scale of 0 to 14. For example, something with a pH of 1 would be very acidic, and something with a pH of 13 would be very alkaline.
Alkaline water has a higher pH level than regular drinking water. Because of this, some advocates of alkaline water believe it can neutralize the acid in your body. Normal drinking water generally has a neutral pH of 7. Alkaline water typically has a pH of 8 or 9.
On top of soothing acid reflux, other claimed benefits of alkaline water, are that it helps neutralize acid in the bloodstream, which leads to increased oxygen levels and improved energy and metabolism; it contains antioxidant properties, cleanses the colon, rejuvenates the skin, and lubricates muscles and joints. It is also more hydrating than regular water.
By drinking alkaline water you can help protect your body from many different diseases that can cause serious health issues. It is also effective in preventing the growth of cancer cells.
